The birthplace of Alexander Hamilton and the island where Admiral Nelson met and married Fanny Nisbet, Nevis is more than your usual Caribbean beach destination. Part of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, Nevis remains largely off the beaten track with a distinctly boutique vibe. The island is dominated by the 3000ft Nevis Peak and has it all; beaches, culture, beautifully lush scenery, charming plantation hotels, fabulous restaurants and wonderfully friendly people. No wonder the rich and famous like to visit, and why some have made it their home.
There are twice weekly flights to St Kitts with British Airways (10 hrs 15 mins via Antigua) on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and then it’s a short car journey and a 10-minute water taxi transfer over to Nevis.
Nevis is also accessible via local airlines from other Caribbean islands, making it an ideal multi-centre Caribbean destination.
Nevis is an exceptional year-round destination. Temperatures average a balmy 81ºF (27ºC) during the winter months and increase to 86 ºF (30 ºC) in the summer. The driest months are February to June. August to October, hurricane season, are the quietest months. Not to be missed is the Nevis Mango and Food Festival which is held in early July.
